The executive duty mayor of Shanghai Zhou Bo met with the delegation from Intel led by the global vice president Ravi Jacob on the morning of September 19, 2017. The two sides exchanged views on the business environment and the development of Intel in Shanghai.

Zhou Bo said that shanghai has 417 R&D centers and 40 global R&D centers. As the global research and development center, Intel put its China headquarters in Shanghai. He thanked Intel and the management team for their trust and the outstanding contributions in technological innovation work of Shanghai. Shanghai municipal government will go all out to support Intel's development in Shanghai and China.

Zhou Bo said that Shanghai is improving its policy environment, to attract different kinds of innovative elements. The investment of 100 billion RMB in air pollution treatment and 100 billion RMB in water pollution treatment will considerably improve the ecological environment in Shanghai. The environmental go-vernance objectives will be achieved five years ahead of time. In the future, Shanghai will further increase government transparency, improve government effectiveness through information technology, improve the business environment and strive to achieve the strategic goal of building Shanghai innovation center.

Ravi Jacob thanked Shanghai municipal government, Minhang district government and Zizhu Hi-tech Zone for their support and help for Intel's development in China. He said that Shanghai is a very dynamic city with a unique charm. Considering the excellent talent environment and conditions of Shanghai and the highly efficient and smooth communication with Shanghai municipal government, Intel felt obligated to increase investment in Shanghai and in China. Intel will increase investment of $100 million in Shanghai, making the total investment $260 million. Intel China headquarters will be built into Intel Asia-Pacific fund management center. In addition, Intel will also increase investment in local science and technology innovation projects. Mr. Ravi Jacob also hoped that Shanghai municipal government gives more help and support to the construction of the fund management center.

Chen Liming, director Intel Asia-Pacific fund department, Hu Yanhong, director of Intel China public affairs department, Chen Yun, the go-vernmental affairs manager, Shen Weihua, deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Committee of Commerce, Wu Bin, deputy governor of Minhang District, Li Li, deputy director of Min-hang Economic Committee and Xia Guang, executive vice general manager of Zizhu Hi-tech Zone, attended the meeting.

Since entering China in 1985, Intel China has the most complete business layout outside its head-quarters in the United States after years of development. The business covers new technology research, product development, chip making, packing and testing, marketing and risk investment. The R&D center in Zizhu has developed into one of the biggest R&D centers in Asia including data center group, software and services group, IOT solutions group and customer platform group etc. The research and development engineers reach nearly 2000. The R&D center in Zizhu Hi-tech Zone has trained several chief engineers and senior chief engineers.
