Recently, Zizhu National Hi-tech Zone was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to be the “National New Industrialization Demonstration Base” (software and information service industry) in the 5th batch. This is the second national new industrialization demonstration base in Shanghai in this field after Pudong Software Park. Supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Shanghai Municipal Government, Zizhu National Hi-tech Zone has been adhering to the requirement of “achieving economic development and upgrading through innovation” and guided the intensive development of the software and information service industry in Zizhu National Hi-tech Zone. Zizhu is now actively building an internationally competitive National New Industrialization Demonstration Base.

With the software and information service as the leading industry, Zizhu has attracted many famous companies including Wicresoft, Neusoft, Boyan Technology, Chinasoft Resources, Pactera, GE, Microsoft and Intel etc. the industrial cluster characterized by software outsourcing services, digital content (animation), avionics information, cloud computing has been formed. Meanwhile, seven state-level R&D institutions and Shanghai Jiaotong University, East China Normal University etc. were introduced to Zizhu, forming a complete system of independent innovation with the combination of production, teaching and research. Now Zizhu has set the goal of promoting the development of software outsourcing, digital content (game and animation), new information technology and embedded software industries.

Taking the opportunity of the approval as the “National New Industrialization Demonstration Base”, Zizhu will actively cultivate the new generation of information technology, aerospace, new energy, biological medicine and other strategic emerging industries with the focus on the development of digital content industry represented by network audio-visual services and continue to develop the software outsourcing industry and integrated circuit designing industry. Zizhu will also improve the ability of independent innovation while promote the development of low-carbon economy and the industrialization and urbanization. In addition, Zizhu National Hi-tech Zone will strive to build an internationally competitive National New Industrialization Demonstration Base, speed up the transformation of economic structure and achieve leap-forward developments so as to promote the upgrading of Shanghai.
