On April 16, 2014, the central group of Shanghai Jiaotong University Party Committee and the young teachers, led by Party Secretary Jiang Sixian, visited Zizhu National Hi-tech Zone. Jiang signed a framework agreement with Zizhu National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone to deepen the strategic cooperation. Shen Wen, board chairman and general manager of Zizhu National Hi-tech Zone, Shen Zhen, executive vice general manager and standing vice general manager Xia Guang and other leaders including Zhu Jian, Zhang Ansheng, Wu Dan, Mei Hong etc. from Shanghai Jiaotong University attended the signing ceremony. 

Jiang and his delegation visited Zizhu Exhibition Center, China (Shanghai) Network Audio-visual Industry Base, Zizhu Peninsula and the Riverside Avenue and watched the profile video. The signing ceremony was held at the conference center to deepen the strategic cooperation between the two sides. 

Chairman Shen introduced the rapid development and the prospect of Zizhu National Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in his speech. He said that Zizhu and Shanghai Jiaotong University has conducted in-depth cooperation in the combination of production, teaching and research since June, 2001. Great achievements were made in university-enterprise cooperation, scholarships, joint research and development, patent applications as well as graduates employment and personnel training, etc. Shen noted that the two sides would proactively carry out the innovation-driven development through growth model transform strategy put forward by Shanghai municipal government to achieve leap-forward development and collaborative innovation in many areas by giving full play to the advantages of each other.

Jiang expressed his thanks to Zizhu for the support to Shanghai Jiaotong University and pointed out that, for years, Zizhu and Shanghai Jiaotong University, with the common ideal of “innovating education technology and developing the whole Chinese nation”, had been closely cooperating in industry incubation base construction, talent cultivation, investment promotion and the construction of Zizhu International Education Center. The signing of the new agreement would further strengthen the cooperation relationship. He hoped that Shanghai Jiaotong University would actively adjust some of the subjects to meet the demands of the enterprises and R&D centers in Zizhu and improve R&D capacity and make more contributions in the cooperation with the enterprises in Zizhu.

Deputy President Wu Dan of Shanghai Jiaotong University and standing vice general manager Xia Guang signed the framework agreement and the donation agreement. According to the agreement, Zizhu National Hi-tech Zone sets up "Zizhu Development Fund in Shanghai Jiaotong University" to support its development. On the basis of the good cooperation in the past, both parties will strengthen exchanges and carry out in-depth cooperation in industrial development, talents cultivation, scientific and technological innovation and students’ entrepreneurship.
