Chamber of Companies in Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park attends Economy and Trade Meeting between China-Sri Lanka

March 1, 2007, China-Sri Lanka economy and trade investment and tourism meeting was hold in Shanghai Xijiao Guest House. Distinguished guests showed up in the meeting, including President of Sri Lanka, Mr. Rajapakse who is visiting Shanghai, other officers from Sri Lanka government, supervisors from Chamber of International Commerce Shanghai and over 150 Chinese companies’ representatives. Chamber of Companies in Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park was invited to this event and it also brought companies inside of park to this meeting, such as National Veterinary R&D Center, Shanghai Xinhua Control Technology (Group) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Solar Energy Engineering Technology Research Center.

According to the custom of Sri Lanka, a traditional island style ceremony of lighting lamps started the meeting. After that, President of Sri Lanka addressed an important speech and sincerely invited Chinese enterprises to go to Sri Lanka to invest. He also welcomed more and more tourists from China. Chairman of Chamber of International Commerce Shanghai Cen Furong introduced the recent development of Shanghai economy and made a welcome speech for 50-year anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Sri Lanka. He also talked about the co-operation opportunities in the fields of bilateral trade, infrastructure construction and tourism. The ministers of trade investment department and tourism department of Sri Lanka gave the speech about trade investment policies, tourism resource and infrastructure separately.

After the meeting, a Sri Lanka products exhibition with Indian Ocean island style opened to all representatives from the companies, who communicated with more than 60 Sri Lanka enterprisers about the cooperation opportunities. The representatives said this meeting promoted the communication with Sri Lanka enterprisers and made a good start for the further cooperation.
