China Large Airplane Project Officially Launched at Zizhu High-Tech Park

With a registered capital of 1.3 billion USD and a total investment of 2 USD, Avic-GE Aviation Electronics Co., Ltd, jointly invested by AVIC Civil Aviation Electronics Co., Ltd. and General Electric (GE), was approved by Ministry of Commerce of the P.R.C. on March 22, 2012. Each of the two investors holds half of the shares. The company obtained the license from Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce on March 27. After Shanghai Aircraft Customer Service Co., Ltd, AVIC commercial Aircraft Engine Co., Ltd, China National Aeronautical Radio Electronics Research Institute, Avic-GE Aviation Electronics Co., Ltd marks a new step in China aviation electronics industry.

On January 21, 2011 (American Chicago time), CPC General Secretary Hu Jintao witnessed the contract signing ceremony during his visit to the U.S. together with his American counterpart Obama. Thereafter, the negation teams of both parties closely cooperated in solving the problems and completed the framework agreement and the contract negotiation and signing work.

Zizhu Hi-tech Zone spared no efforts to cooperate with the company to put it into normal operation. In January, 2012, the C919 Project united team moved into Zizhu Digital Hub and began the day-to-day business at the construction stage. The Comprehensive Aviation Electronics System Lab and ergonomics Lab are also under construction.

The company is pushing forward its business in a prudent and orderly way. At present, It is formulating the strategic development plan and the commercial plan. The all-round technical collaboration and the R&D of C919 aviation electronics system have already been launched. The Joint venture will make all efforts to enter into the world avionics industry chain as soon as possible and to build the company into the R&D center for civil aviation electronics and the innovation center for civil electronic industry. AVIC General Manager Lin Zuoming said with full confidence that “we will make the joint venture a successful example for the Sino-US enterprise cooperation”.
