The foundation laying ceremony of National Nano Technology and Application Research Center, the sole national level interim test transferring base for achievements of nano science and technology, was formally held in Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park at 10:00 am on 29 December, 2005. Officials from National Development and Reform Commission，Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China，National Natural Science Foundation of China，Central Iron & Steel Research Institute，Chinese Academy of Sciences Shanghai Branch，National Center for NanoScience and Technology, China，relevant departments of Shanghai government, Minhang District Government, investors and leaders from Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park attended the ceremony.

National Nano Technology and Application Research Center is an important development project of the state and Shanghai Municipality and is one of the national important strategic deploys of implementation of the National Development Program for Nano Science and Technology (2001-2010). The main purpose and task of the center is to integrate the strengths of Nano technology developing field in Shanghai and the state. By developing key technology and commonness technology in the area of new type nano materials, nano environment and biology, nano biomedicine, nano electronic devices, ect. with the clearly marketing demands of technology and products, so as to establish world top-ranking platform for nano technology research and development and exchange, to form benign mechanism tightly combining with research and development and industrialization. By self-research and development, system integration, introducing and importing individual important technology ect., to form a batch of achievements with core technology and industrializing, to promote and accelerate the industrialized course of our country’s nano technology.
