A grand ceremony of the Intel Science and Technology Building being put into operation was held in Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park on Feb. 28, 2006. Mr. Yang Xiong, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Xiao Mulian, Vice President of Intel and General Manager of Intel Channel Platform Group, Vice President of Intel Mr. Richard Wirt, President of Intel (China) Mr. Chen Weiding, Deputy Secretary of Shanghai Municipality Mr. Fan Xiping, Vice Director of Shanghai Informatization Committee Mr. Fu Wenbiao, Vice Director of Shanghai Reformation and Development Committee Mr. Chen Yin, Vice General Engineer of Shanghai Science and Technology Committee Mr. Wang Jianping, Vice Director of Shanghai Foreign Investment Committee Mr. Liu Jinping, Governor of Minhang District Mr. Chen Jing, Vice Governor of Minhang District Mr. Zhang Wenyue and Mr. Zhang Chen, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park Mr. Shen Wen etc. attended the ceremony. Vice Mayor of Shanghai Mr. Yang Xiong, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park Mr. Shen Wen, Vice President of Intel and General Manager of Intel Channel Platform Group Mr. Xiao Mulian and Vice President of Intel Mr. Richard Wirt unveiled and touched spherical device and activated the model of the Intel Science and Technology Building in Zizhu.

After the Intel Science and Technology Building in Zizhu being put into operation, the research talents from 7 main products and technology departments including the Channel Platforms Group, the Digital Enterprise Group, the Digital Health Group, the Digital Home Group and the Mobility Group ect. will work for the product development of main business departments of Intel, sticks to continuously development for the aim of forming local innovation center. It is reported that there are over 1000 employees in the building, and the number of the employees will be extended to 2000 in the next few years.

Intel-Zizhu Park plan of “the activity of taking good care of growth” was also formally started on the same day. The plan will effectively improve the local schools’ technology facilities and will provide youngsters in the district (including labors from another place) with computers, IT practical skill training and so on.
