In the morning of March 9, 2006, the completion ceremony of the R&D center building of Kao (China) Research and Development Center was held in Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park. Vice Director of Shanghai Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Commission and Shanghai Municipal Foreign Investment Commission, Mr. Liu JinPing, Deputy Director of Department of Food Safety Coordination of State Food and Drug Administration, Mr. Zhang Jinjing, Chairman of the Board of Kao Corporation, Mr. Takaishi Naotake, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Kao (China) Holding Co. Ltd. , Mr. Higuch Nobuatsu, Vice General Manager Mr. Luo ShanYing and Mr. Liu Xun of the park and other leaders attended the ceremony.

With the total area of 5000 square meter and construction space of 4160 square meter, the R&D center building of Kao (China) Research and Development Center was started to set up in June 2005. According to Mr. Higuch Nobuatsuh, the R&D center will focus on the research and development of products for beauty caring such as skin caring, hair caring and cosmetic etc. The center is also planning to extend the scale of research and development on all fields of household articles like physiological articles and household detergents etc. In order to further accelerate the development of commodity which is suitable for consumers’ demands, China is one of the networks of Kao R&D bases being distributed in Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe and America.
