September 24 2003, Micro-electronics School of Shanghai Jiaotong University and National IC Talents Cultivation Base inagurate. Vice mayor of Shanghai-Mr.Yang Xiong, governors from the Ministry of Education and science & Technology, Shanghai Information Commission, Shanghai Technology Commission and Representatives from IBM, ARM, TSMC etc 60 companies participated. National 863 IC Programme chief Mr.Yan Xiao Lang and the Chancellor of Shanghai Jiaotong University Mr. Xie Shenwu hosted the inaguration. Before the inauguration, Vice mayor Mr.Yang Xiong visited the school and affirm the contribution of the school in the circumstance of lacking IC talents at present.

The dean presides the school management under the board of director. Professor Chen Jin – the chief designer of HanXin No.1 and technology elite of Shanghai takes the position. The school is one of the nine national IC talent cultivation bases.

The school plans to set up IC club. The school has broad co-operation with IBM, Motorola, Cadence, Synopsys, WeiSheng, TSMC, UMC, Shanghai Beiling and Seagull Group in research and training. It not only benefits the school’s industry chain ability covers IC design, manufacturing, packing, test and OEM, but also provides the great opportunity of student practice.

The school has a strong faculty team, that includes scientists from overseas who have excellent background of research and engineering, senior engineer from famous home and aboard IC companies and expertise, professor and scholars from overseas well-known university. At present, the school has 7 senior professors and engineers who have 10-year experience, 8 overseas scholars. IC experience accumulated 114 person/year. The faculty team involves in National key programmes such as 863 programmes with accumulated research fee RMB33.45 million. IC authority Mr.Jiang Mianheng, Mr.Yan Xiaolang, Mr.He Yue and Mr.Shi Ming are appointed to be part-time professor and PHD supervisor. Engineer Salon is the place for projects introduction and training by famous IC companies.
