On March 31, the first phase project of Microsoft China Shanghai Science and Technology Park was officially opened in Zizhu Park, which is Microsoft’s first R & D and technical service park offshore. The park was constructed to meet the demand of long-term planning and sustainable development between Microsoft and China as well as Asia-Pacific region, and will more effectively support customer service and innovation combined with the industry partners. Green technology was greatly employed in the construction, with a total investment of nearly 700 million CNY.
Dr. Yaqin Zhang, Microsoft global senior vice president ,and Chairman of Microsoft Asia-Pacific R & D Group, claimed: "With the development of China's information industry, China has become the world R & D and innovative base from a rising market, and increasingly occupies an important position in multinational company strategy. Microsoft Shanghai Science and Technology Park once again shows the company's confidence and commitment in China's information industry."
Microsoft China Shanghai Science and Technology Park is located in Zizhu Science Park in the southeast of Shanghai Minhang District, with a building area of 55,000 square meters for the first phase; the whole completed park will occupy 96,000 square meters, and can accommodate more than 7,000 employees. The design and construction has been adhering to the green philosophy, and employed low-E glass curtain wall, natural light systems, and underground air conditioning systems in architecture to make full use of natural resources. Moreover, the office also features light sensor control and ice storage air-conditioning system, with a perfect blend with the high-tech energy-saving technologies, for the pursuit of harmonious co-existing and development of architecture, environment and human.
This is another landmark building, following Intel, Coca-Cola and Borg Warner in Zizhu Park.
