17th, April 2006, Omron Group, worldwide famous vender of industrial automation and electronics components, hold its ground breaking ceremony of R&D Center (China) in Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Park. As part of the worldwide development strategy, this event is Omron’s another significant investment in China. Some important guests attended the ceremony, including Duty Head of Shanghai Minhang District, Mr. Zhang Wenyue, Vice President of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Mr. Zhang Shimin, President and CEO of Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Park, Mr. Shen Wen and leaders of Omron group.

Omron Sensor and Control (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. is the first R&D center Omron Group invested in China and the second company with legal entity in overseas market of Japan.

The center will be officially launched in October 2006 with 100 personnel and 30-odd researches at the beginning of its operation. It is expected to double its research personnel and number of projects by the end of March 2008.

Omron said that huge human resource capital had made Omron R&D Center (China) a key implementer for its worldwide development strategy plan and was one of the most important reasons why the center was set up. Omron would improve from every aspect, try to attract more talents to join Omron and speed up its localization.
